Other ways we support the veteran community
Our 4 Pillar Programs
Supporting military men and women with donations from people and corporations who care.
FL Scholarships
This year, we will be awarding 12 scholarships, which range from $4,000 to $12,000 to cover students' 4-year education. Since we were founded, we have awarded over $1,500,000 in scholarships. The program is open to students whose parent or grandparent are actively serving, or have served, in the U.S. military and achieved the rank of E5 or above. This program is only open to Florida residents.
Career Grants
A newer program we help fund veterans, military spouses, and their dependent children interested in trade, vocational and certification programs. A generous opportunity MFS in collaboration with the George and Mimi Frank endowment. We are excited to award and follow recipients progress.
Honor Flight Guardian Program
As a way of saying thank you for their service, Honor Flight takes older veterans for a day trip to Washington, DC to see the National Veteran's Memorial. Each veteran is required to have a guardian for the day. MFS covers the guardian's cost, including the flight from Tampa. We have sponsored approximately 50+ guardians. JROTC Program
Our JROTC program is an award program centered on all of the Hillsborough County public high schools where we recognize the top cadet in each grade level. We also provide medals and certificates for programs across the state of Florida.
Guide & Therapy Dogs for Veterans
We have worked closely with Dogs Inc in Palmetto, Florida, over the past 10 years. A world leader in the field of training and linking individuals with Guide and PTSD Therapy service dogs. We have provided funds to assist in covering the link-up training period for 2 veterans per year. We have also sponsored equipment in the Canine Assessment Center.
My Warrior's Place
Located in Ruskin, Florida, on the Little Manatee River, My Warrior's Place offers a retreat center for veterans and families where they can receive counseling and unwind with like-minded families. Founded by a Gold Star mom who lost her son in Afghanistan, we provide a grant each year for this organization. We have assisted with prior expenses, such as Emergency surgery for a admitted veteran's service dogs.
